Newlywed Spectrum

So a few weeks back we had the opportunity to see my brother and his wife get married, and what a great occasion! This is following their ceremony.

We had a somewhat different experience just the other day that while oddly familiar, held some clear variations. See the same moment following the ceremony of my sweet grandma and her husband.

It was funny! Following the ceremony we proceeded to Robintinos (where apparently you just have to ask for fresh mushrooms, so you don't get canned ones). The mushrooms made the difference on our pizza, and my brother had an Ah Ha moment like I had a few thanksgivings back when a relative brought fresh mushrooms. They were fantastic, and he was picking them off the pizza just as quick as the caramel he's been eating at my parents' house.

The room where we feasted...

My inevitable deviation...

(and this one my brother even knew what was coming, and looked at me with a look of foreboding.)

Honestly it was okay, but it was just one of those that is about due for the next update. I would recommend starting with the floor perhaps. :) The wall tiles looked pretty clean. No automatic features, but that isn't really what makes or breaks a restroom. It just needed that updated aesthetic, because it looks old and a little grimy, even though it was probably just fine. Rating is FAIR. Aesthetic matters in such intimate quarters.

And congrats to the happy couple!

Bathroom Magic and Iron Blosam's

First off, there is a magical occurrence that you may have been privileged sometime in life to encounter. If there is any kind of equivalent to four leaf clover's in the bathroom, these toilet paper crystals are it. Just beautiful. (Or at least moderately interesting).

Now on to the next. My family has a timeshare in one of the oldest remaining timeshares in America. (It has been updated, and is still very nice, if old.) The room, however, was sitting up there without anybody in our family available to use it, so I packed up food and other essentials for 3 days, and then me and the nubbins went off on a vacation. AWESOME! Take a look at the view from our room at the Iron Blosam Lodge at Snowbird Resort.

(and yes, that is a bird on the balcony table. A bluejay stopped in to enjoy some goldfish that had been left in the bowl there.)

And this next picture is here because I thought it was hilarious.

Isn't she sweet to her little doll?

I set up the nubbins' bed in the darkest, most secluded little spot of the room.

Ironically enough, that put her right here.

The restroom was GREAT. The time with my cute little daughter was celestial. It's great to be a daddy.

Dual Tribute!

Here I was in the Huntsman Cancer Institute waiting room with middle-aged and elderly folks around me. What a funny life this is. One seasoned gentleman could not drink the contrast for his MRI, and in a true show of his generation's grit, stood up with his wife and just took off, refusing to stomach the stuff and unsure of why he and his wife were there in the first place. Watching them leave prematurely I grimaced inside even as I chuckled to myself for his show of grit and stubborness.

In any case, what a marvelous place! Beautiful everywhere you look. I drank my own wonderful contrast, and concluded a full body scan of over 1/2 an hour's duration.

The progression went like this. Not wanting to expose me to any more radiation than necessary, I had an X-Ray, the results of which prompted a CT-Scan, the results of which prompted the MRI. What a wonderful progression.

The restrooms...

Nice huh?

PRISTINE, is more like it.

Look at the kind of aesthetic they created for restrooms at the Cancer Institute. Wouldn't this kind of look inspire confidence as to the type of facility seeing to your care? It did in my case, and my own purpose in going was not so very urgent as many of the fighters who we saw arrive for treatments of a very different sort.

And if ever I would think to bemoan my own lot in life, a simple visit here would change that outlook quick enough.

A beautiful building with a beautiful purpose.

Read about it here at their website, http://www.huntsmancancer.org/

I'm doing just fine, by the way. :)

The Lion House

We've all heard about the rolls... that they're delicious. What about the food? It's cafeteria style (meaning you grab a tray and go down the line picking out your meal). And it's also really good. I remember most the candied yams... which were very delicious!

This building was where in 1869 Brigham Young founded what would become the Young Women's Association of the LDS Church. I hadn't known this, but it was initially organized for President Young's daughters also. He had 46 children that lived to maturity.

Needless to say, I expected pretty cool restrooms.

Aren't those windows cool? I thought I was sittin pretty until my wifey volunteered to show me some of the women's room. I'm not even going to show you the actual restroom, but instead the women's sitting room that was apparently there with the ladies room.

What a wonderful thing this would be. Do they even use those comfy chairs in that sitting room? I guarantee you the men would. I'd sit down just to see how soft it was, and then if it was as comfy as it looks, I may be some time in the "bathroom".

I'm sure the ladies use them too, and I certainly don't think they're not deserved by the ladies. Sigh and move on.

The restrooms are GREAT. You shouldn't have to worry about them (especially if you're a girl). There were two flights of stairs for me to get to them from the cafeteria, but I'm sure there's an elevator also... The food, excellent! Not fine dining, but a good home cooked style meal that will fill your bellies and make you feel like you are in a Pennsylvania restaurant run by the Amish, or a subgroup of Amish. (Maybe one called Good N'Plenty that sits in memory as one of the favorites on a road-trip backeast as a child)

On Bathroom Aesthetics and Impartiality

Since we tend to pay attention in general to our surroundings, in restrooms the details are all assimilated and translated into very generalized responses.

In other words, sometimes for as clean as a restroom may be, the aesthetics are just wrong and leave you feeling icky. I'll try to be as impartial as possible, but let's face it, a lot comes down to how I generally feel while there.

This will undoubtedly, inevitably show in my ratings.

Restroom Goals

Restrooms that I would like to rate, but will take some time to get there.

1. Angel's Landing - Scout Lookout (It is a strenuous, 2.5 mile hike to the top. Well worth it, probably nasty, but I'm not there yet in any case. :)

2. The Louvre - obviously great, it would have to be.
