Indian Beach in Oregon

Here are some from near an Oregon Beach.

There was interesting graffiti on the inside of this one, which was refreshing in a way, since I'm used to the baser, more krass sort from the campus at the University of Utah. (There isn't time for a discussion on that sub-culture. And no, I didn't get a picture of the graffiti. I was a little worried about what I might miss in the graffiti and post online.

The beach was really pretty though, and I didn't notice the much nicer restroom on the other side of the parking lot until after. ... oh well. Character, right?

This was taken from Indian Beach, near Seaside OR. And the restroom was a pit, but ranked fair. (I don't know if there could be a pit potty rated above fair.)

Way to Go Disney! (no pun intended)

This website is the main page of an interesting new contest from Disney that, surprisingly enough, is right in line with this blog.

It's all about your best potty moments, those times when our interactions with latrines leave us laughing. I should have a lot, but I keep having flashbacks of my terrible kindergarten experience (I'll tell you later). But I could share my wifey's, an Elementary School teacher's, experience with a fingerpainting child in the bathrooms at her school... Enough said there, really.

So here's the link to the site again,

http://family.go.com/assets/html/toilet-tale/MyToiletTale_FOB_ViewOnline.html/?cmp=NLC-FOB_Fcom_101910_ViewOnline_MyToiletTale_Contest_Fcom

And since there were no takers on the Capital Building Challenge for a gift card, anybody who posts their experience here as well(you can even do it anonymously) will be in the running for the gift card. If you're the only one that posts, then you're pretty much guaranteed a gift card, so great (and thanks for participating!)! Just another way to see if I can get people to participate in the potty blogging experience. :)

So post away, and take a look at the Disney page.

On the Go!

The most potentially worrisome time for those whose comings and goings are tied to restrooms, is when proximity is uncertain, such as on a train. If you've looked into public transit with any degree of hesitation, here's a little reassurance.

This is a particular favorite of mine now, as well as a long-time goal recently achieved. Which restroom was it?

Frontrunner, heading to Ogden and points north (between Salt Lake Central and up into Ogden for now). It was quite an experience... a pleasant one, no less!

Very well maintained, clean, and if you'll notice in the photo...

It even has the toilet paper triangle. There are only a few times I've seen the like, such as here, for instance.

Just a little thing, but I notice, and feel momentarily reassured as to the upkeep of the facility.

As to the rating, this was no pit, not even a claustrophobic germ-a-phobic port-a-potty. This was pleasantly comfortable, and recieves an easy GREAT rating, with kudos for making a tight space feel somehow roomy.

If you look to public transit, at least this leg of the journey can be made without too much concern. (I should add, however, that there is only the one restroom in the lead car available for use, so plan to be close, or plan to walk up through the cars if you aren't close by.)

Check out the link here if you want to take a ride some weekend.

On Bathroom Aesthetics and Impartiality

Since we tend to pay attention in general to our surroundings, in restrooms the details are all assimilated and translated into very generalized responses.

In other words, sometimes for as clean as a restroom may be, the aesthetics are just wrong and leave you feeling icky. I'll try to be as impartial as possible, but let's face it, a lot comes down to how I generally feel while there.

This will undoubtedly, inevitably show in my ratings.

Restroom Goals

Restrooms that I would like to rate, but will take some time to get there.

1. Angel's Landing - Scout Lookout (It is a strenuous, 2.5 mile hike to the top. Well worth it, probably nasty, but I'm not there yet in any case. :)

2. The Louvre - obviously great, it would have to be.
